Whether you're using it to mist your Beautyblender or to resurrect your face after a humid day out, a rosewater mist is a great product to keep in your kikay kit. Yet, not all rosewater mists are created equal. Here are my thoughts on the Neogen Real Flower Cleansing Water (Rose), Rraw Fresh Face in Rose, L_A_N_D Musem Handymist Rosewater S.A. Thermal Water, and Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist.

Best Multitasker/Value for Money: Neogen Real Flower Cleansing Water (Rose), P1,050 at Watsons Philippines, The Skincare Curator

Ingredients: Water, CPEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Rosa Damascena Flower, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower, Rosa Damascena Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Flower Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Xylitol, Centella Asiatica Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Dipropylene Glycol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Ethylhexylglycerin ,PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

Although this is technically a (very decent) cleansing water, I love using this as a facial mist. It's got great, skin-nourishing ingredients (rose extract, aloe vera extract, rosemary flower extract, hyaluronic acid, centella asiatica extract, etc.) and a mild, inoffensive rose scent. This doesn't have a spray nozzle, so I just decant this into a spray bottle. Keep it on your dresser to set your makeup, or decant into a smaller travel-friendly bottle to mist on the go.

This is great value for money, because you get 300ml for roughly P1,050 (depending on where you get it) because you have a multi-tasker that works as a makeup remover, toner, and facial mist.

A nice touch: It's also got fermented rose petals suspended in the product.

The Local Choice: Rraw Fresh Face, P199 on Rraw

Ingredients: Rose Water. Glycerin. Fresh Rose Oil. Witch Hazel. Aqua

Rraw is a cruelty-free brand from Iloilo. According to the product page, you can also use this as a toner and even as a makeup primer, but I prefer using this as a face mist. The brand recommends the rose variant for oily and dull skin (can't honestly say if it has helped with that), and the lavender variant for normal, combination, and sensitive skin.

The ingredients list is very simple (no fillers, no artificial fragrances, no alcohol) and to the point, but sometimes less is more, you know? I don't need my face mist to do much more than smell pleasant and hydrate my skin.

I adore this glass bottle packaging because it feels expensive and looks nice on my dresser, but they've since phased this out. The newer packaging comes in lighter plastic bottle.

The Travel-Friendly Choice: L_A_N_D Musem Handymist Rosewater S.A. Thermal Water, KRW 3,000-5,000 (~P140-P232)

I bought this mostly out of curiosity at ALAND in Myeongdong (and also because my Whamisa mist ran out during the trip). This is a perfectly decent mist in a travel-friendly, TSA-approved 30ml bottle. It's got good ingredients (not the best tbh), the bottle sprays a very fine mist with a mild rose scent, and it's a great pick-me-up when you've been out doing errands in hot/humid weather, sitting in your hot classroom, or working in a cold air-conditioned office.

This is not a ride or die mist, but it's still very serviceable. Plus, it makes great pasalubong for your Kbeauty-loving friends.

Translations my own, so apologies if I get anything wrong
Ingredients: Purified water, butylene glycol, glycerine, pentylene glycol, mineral water, spa water (500ppm), Rosa damascena extract (1.25ppm), propanediol, octyldodeceth-16, arginine, magnesium PCA, manganese PCA, sodium PCA, zinc PCA, sodium hyaluronate, polyglutamic acid, caprylic acid, phospholipids, ceramide 3, 1,2 hexanediol, phytosterol, carbomer, disodium iodide, phenoxyethanol

The Bougee Choice: Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist, P803/60ml, P1605/120ml on Sephora.ph

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water (Aloe Water), Rosa Damascena (Rose) Hydrosol, Leucidal (Radish Root Ferment), Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Neer Sikkappu Red

Herbivore Botanicals is the gold standard of branding and packaging, amirite? It just looks so aspirational and #aesthetic... which is mostly why I bought this. I didn't need another face mist (as you can probably tell), but I was suckered in by the packaging.

Out of the four rosewater toners, this is the one I feel conflicted about. The glass bottle looks gorgeous and expensive, the packaging is fantastic, the bottle sprays out a fine mist (as opposed to huge watery droplets), but the scent is also stronger than I would prefer. It smells like rose petals, but not fresh ones; more like the ones that you collect in a plastic bag to throw at the bride and groom when they exit the church--kind of old. You can't even smell the hibiscus here.

I'm not usually particular or sensitive to scents (as you've read in my past posts), but one spray of this irritated my nose something fierce; like you want to sneeze but it's not coming out.

Scent aside, it's a good face mist, and I do feel that it's a tad more moisturizing than the other mists. I just have to get past the initial scent.

If I were pressed to choose, I'd go for the Neogen one (multitasker and value for money yo) or Rraw (support good local brands).
